To know Dee was to know kindness, strength, and unwavering love. He was the kind of man who could always be counted on, whether you needed advice, a helping hand, or simply someone to listen. His greatest joy in life was the people he loved, and he devoted himself wholeheartedly to his family and friends. Dee was a proud Vietnam veteran who served in the United States Marine Corps, a Level 3 Shriner, a member of the Acworth Masonic Lodge, and the owner of Wildwood Health Care until his retirement in 2015.
He will be remembered not only for what he did, but for who he was: a loving father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather, loyal friend, and a source of comfort and laughter to so many. His wisdom, stories, sense of humor, and gentle spirit left a lasting mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Whether spending time with family or sharing quiet moments with those he loved, Dee lived a life rooted in gratitude, hard work, and compassion. The lessons he taught through his actions will continue to guide us for years to come.
He is survived by his children, Craig (Sylvia) Wilbanks and DeAnn (Michael) Angland; grandchildren, Christina (Kyler) Gillespie, Victoria (Torri) Tate, Zachary (Brooklyn) Reed, Lindsey Angland, Cohen (Annette Diaz) Wilbanks, Sam Wilbanks, Brady Angland, and Sawyer Angland; and great-grandchildren, Allie Christmas, Isabelle Reed, Oliver Reed, Noah Jackson and Amira Ellis, all of whom will forever cherish the memories they shared with him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernice (Morrow) Wilbanks and Dee Forest Wilbanks, Sr.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Abbott officiating. The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at Owen Funeral Home from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm.
Though we will miss him deeply every day, we find comfort in knowing that his love remains with us. His legacy lives on in the family he treasured, the friendships he nurtured, and the countless lives he touched.
We love you, Dad, and we will carry you in our hearts always.
