Dennis Wayne Mooney

Dennis Wayne Mooney, 62, of Cartersville GA, passed away December 23, 2016 following a lengthy illness. Dennis was the son of the late James Mooney and Velda Stringer Mooney. Mr. Mooney was raised in the Hickory Flat Church of God in Canton GA. He graduated from Cherokee High School in the class of 1972. As a younger man, Dennis spent countless hours restoring and preserving his families’ antebellum home in Allatoona Pass. Dennis was a dedicated employee of Georgia Power for over 25 years, where he worked as a lineman. He also ran a horse farm in canton for 10 years. In his spare time, Mr. Mooney enjoyed antique cars and motorcycles and enjoyed attending auctions. Dennis was also a member of the Etowah Valley Historical Society.Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Diane Mooney, and his three sons; Clay Mooney, Adam (Betsy) Mooney and Lance Mooney.The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 27th from four in the afternoon until seven, at Owen Funeral Home.In memory of Dennis Wayne Mooney, contributions may be made to Hickory Flat Church of God, Canton GA or the Etowah Valley Historical Society.Please visit www.owenfunerals.com to leave condolences for the family.Services for Mr. Mooney are under the direction of Owen Funeral Home, 12 Collins Drive, Cartersville GA
