

Doris Evelyn Childers Wilson, age 88, of Cartersville passed away on Wednesday, November 11, 2015. Mrs Wilson was born to Beulah Pope Childers and George Washington Childers on July 7, 1927. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Carl William Wilson, her parents and her eleven siblings. She is survived by her children: Yvonne Wilson Sweat (Mike) and Gary Wilson (Lynn), grandchildren: Dawn Wilson Kilgore (Ed) of Pacific Grove CA. Marty Teems (Kenya), Shawn Teems (JJ), and Kyle Teems (Carla), all of Cartersville. Eight great-grandchildren: Marty Teems, Jr Candice) and Katelyn Teems Slater (Michael); Montana, Maddox , MaLaney, and Marlo Teems; Clark and Madeline Teems. She was so excited to be the great-great-grandmother to Shelby Slater and Kinley Teems.
She and her husband were both natives of Cartersville and grew up in the Sugar Valley area; both coming from large families is survived by a great number of nieces and nephews.
She was a longtime active member of Oakland Heights Baptist Church and enjoyed her Ladies Sunday School Class and the Ladies Missionary group. She was always eager to be a part of all the church annual yard sales, feeding visiting missionaries, vacation Bible Schools, and many other activities.
She was so very proud of all her grand children’s successes, Dawn Wilson, Attorney and Homeland Security Trainer.
Her three grandsons with Bartow County EMS and also law enforcement with the Emerson Police Department and Cartersville Police Department. Two of her great-grand sons are following the family tradition of Civil Servant Service as a Deputy of Bartow County Sheriffs Department and Gwinnett County Fire Department.
She always beamed with pride when someone would share how kind and comforting her grandsons had been to them and their families when responding to them in an emergency situation.
She was a very charming Southern Lady who will be greatly missed by her family and everyone who has ever known her.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate the life of this wonderful lady at Oakland Heights Baptist Church on Saturday, November 14 at 11:00 a.m.. Visitation will at Owen Funeral Home Friday, November 13, from 4pm to 7pm and burial thereafter along side of her husband in the Zion Hill Baptist Church cemetery.
