Douglas Edward Simmons

Douglas Edward Simmons, age 87 of Cartersville, GA passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2024. He was born in Douglasville, GA on March 20, 1937 to Joseph O. Simmons, Sr. and Verdie M. Aderhold Simmons.

Douglas is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Verdie Simmons; brothers, J.O. Simmons, Thomas Simmons, and Al Simmons; sisters, Reba Twilley, Dorothy Howard, and Mary Wilson. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Sally Graviett Simmons; children, Teri (Dean) Benton, and Kim Sheldon; and grandchildren, Holly Benton, Alec Sheldon, and Kade Sheldon.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Sunday, December 1, 2024 in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Paul O’Neal officiating. The interment will follow at Dallas Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday, from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at the funeral home.
