He was born on April 25, 1940 in Havana, Cuba, the only child of the late Eric Cahn and Ruth Cahn, during a remarkable voyage and escape from the Holocaust to settle in Davenport, Iowa.
Dr. Cahn attended the University of Iowa, where he competed as a letterman on the tennis team. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Iowa before moving to North Carolina for his internship and residency in dermatology at Duke University.
Dr. Cahn volunteered for service in the Army in 1968, where he attained the rank of Major and practiced dermatology at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. Following his military service, Dr. Cahn decided to open his private dermatology practice in Atlanta in the early-70’s. In 1985, seeking escape from the traffic and pace of Atlanta, he, along with his wife and son, settled in Cartersville, Georgia.
Dr. Cahn was a principled man of integrity, and would bring levity to almost every conversation with his dry sense of humor. He rooted for the Bulldogs, Braves and Falcons, and particularly enjoyed playing early-morning golf, skiing, the lake, and spending time with friends and family.
Survivors include his loving wife of thirty-eight years, Paulette Holden Cahn; son, Brian (Angie) Cahn; granddaughter, Elliana Cahn; grandson, Eric Cahn.
A Celebration of Life Service will be announced at a later date.
Owen Funeral Home, 12 Collins Dr., Cartersville, GA 30120 is honored to serve Mr. Cahn's family during this difficult time.
