Elizabeth Mahan Garrison, age 100, of Old Tennessee Road, Rydal, Georgia, passed away Thursday morning July 7, 2011 at a local hospital.
Mrs. Garrison was born June 4, 1911 in Rydal, Georgia, daughter of the late Joseph Buford Mahan, Sr. and Lola Virginia Garrison Mahan. She was a retired School Teacher and was a member of Pine Log United Methodist Church. She was married to Earnest Garrison on June 3, 1934 and he preceded her in death in 1996. She was also preceded in death by a son; Joseph “Joe” Garrison in 2004; a granddaughter; Lori Garrison Davidson in 2005; brothers; Hubert Mahan, Alton Mahan and J.B. Mahan, Jr..
Survivors include a granddaughter; Vicky Garrison Manring, and husband Seam of Cartersville; great-grandchildren; Austin Davidson, Diana Davidson, Molly Manring, James Manring; daughter-in-law; Cleo Garrison, and husband Ben Dewrell of Waleska; sister-in-law; Dorothy & Odell Nally of Pine Log; a number of nieces and nephews also.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday morning July 9th at 11:00 A.M. at Pine Log United Methodist Church with Rev. Geoff Grubbs officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. The body will lie in-state from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. on Saturday at the Church.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 P.M. at Owen Funeral Home.
Pallbearers include Joey Crocker, Paul Harrison, Seam Manring, Brad Nally, Jerry Nally, Paul Nally , Wade Nally and Danny Wooten.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Pine Log United Methodist Church.
