March 28, 1947February 22, 2021

Elmer Mack Smith Jr, age 73, went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 22, 2021. Elmer was born on March 28, 1947 to the late Elmer Smith Sr. and Becky Blalock Smith in Adairsville, Georgia. Elmer was a resident of the Hickory Log vocational home in White, Georgia for the last 16 years of his life. While living there, his fellow residents became like family and Hickory Log became a place he loved to call home. Elmer was a member of the First Assembly of God church in Cartersville, Georgia. Elmer had a big heart and loved to help people any way he could. He attended many church programs and volunteered his time at local charities. He was known by many in the community and loved to be the center of attention wherever he would go. One of his favorite things to do was to spend time with his best friend and brother in Christ, Charles Hudson. Along with his parents, Elmer is preceded in death by his brother, James Smith and brother-in-law, Eddie Parks. Elmer is survived by his sisters, Carol Parks and Mary Gearldine (Roy) Morris, several nieces and nephews, and extended family. First off my condolences
to the family, Elmer was a joy, to take care of during his time at Hickory log. I will miss him calling me " old woman". He will surely be missed, but I know he is rejoicing and not in any pain.

Carol and Family, I am so heartbroken to lose Elmer here on earth, but I have to rejoice because I know that he is with your Mother and Dad, whom he missed so much, and with his Lord Jesus Christ, whom he was so eager to see. He made my chaplain work a true joy. He worked so hard at learning to read, and would tell everyone how he'd prayed for a teacher and then introduce me. He tried harder than any other student I had ever had in my years of teaching school. Elmer had a great sense of humor and such a love for other people, especially needy people. He was a fine Christian man. We are already missing him so much at Hickory Log. We love you all and will be keeping you lifted up in prayer.
