
Mrs. Padgett was born January 31, 1924 in Blythewood, SC, daughter of the late Harry W. Chappell, Sr. and Mary Riley Chappell.
Emily was the co-founder of Eigie-Bob’s Children’s shop that served the community of Cartersville for 36 years. She was active and associated with Cub Scouts, Little League baseball and the United Methodist Women’s Association. She was an active and very proud member of Sam Jones United Methodist Church where she served as a member of Stephen Ministries. Emily also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 57 years where she served several terms as President.
Emily is preceded in death by her husband, W. Paul Padgett, Jr. and sister, Betty C. Smith.
Survivors include her brother, Harry W. Chappell, Jr.; sister, Barbara Ann Chappell; sons and daughters-in-laws, W. Paul and Deborah Padgett III of Rome, GA, H. Stanley and Margaret Padgett of Calhoun, GA; son, Kenneth H. Padgett of Ringgold, GA; grandchildren, W. Paul Padgett IV, Trumon W. Padgett Sr., Chappell A. Padgett and Amy P. Breuer; great grandchildren, W. Paul Padgett V, Gracy Padgett, Emily Padgett, T. Weston Padgett Jr., Olivia Padgett, Ella Grace Padgett, Maxwell Breuer, Willena Padgett and Camden Padgett.
Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM, Thursday, December 12, 2013 from the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with the Rev. Kevin Lobello and Rev. Nena Jones officiating. Interment will immediately follow from Sunset Memory Gardens.
Serving as Pallbearers are Chappell Padgett, Paul Padgett IV, Trumon Padgett Sr., Matt Smith, John Smith and Buddy Chappell.
Honorary Pallbearers are James Jones, Clinton Williams, Brook Beck, Bert Smith and Andy Breuer.
The family will receive friends 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM, Thursday December 12, 2013 from Owen Funeral Home.
