Emory Larry Blackwell Jr.

Emory Larry Blackwell Jr., age 60, passed away on January 30, 2021 in Cartersville, Georgia. Larry was born on January 25, 1961 to the late Emory Larry Blackwell Sr. and Frances Earlene Askren in Marietta, Georgia. Larry led an amazing life. He had a heart full of so much love to give. He thoroughly enjoyed spending quality time with his family and most of all, loved being a father and grandfather. Larry always had a joke to share and put a smile on everyone's face. Larry also enjoyed spending his time watching baseball, wrestling, Nascar, and also fishing on the lake. Working primarily as an electrician for over thirty five years, Larry enjoyed to fix things as well as work on cars, mainly hot rods.

On June 6, 1992 Larry married the love of his life Rolanda, and they remained married for the next twenty-nine years before his passing. Larry was very strong willed, and this was evident in all aspects of his life even up until the very end. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Robert Blackwell. He is survived by wife, Rolanda Blackwell; step father, George Askren Sr.; children, James Blackwell, Vanessa (Jonathan) Owens, Kris (Lauren) Blackwell, Jason (Melissa) Confer and Sabrina (Erwin) Romero; sister, Joy (Roy) Fricks; brother, George Askren; grandchildren, Kai Blackwell, Hunter and Carter Owens, Avery, Amelia and Baby Boy Blackwell and Jeremiah and Savannah Spratley.

A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at 4:00pm. The family will receive friends for visitation two hours prior to the service, at Owen Funeral Home, 12 Collins Dr., Cartersville, Georgia 30120.
