Ernest "Tony" Gresham, Jr.

Tony was born on March 6, 1948 in Atlanta, GA, son of the late Ernest Gresham, Sr. and Mozelle Samples Gresham.

Tony proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War as SP5 in the 1st Calvary Division as a helicopter mechanic. He received a National Defense Medal, a Vietnam Service Medal and a Vietnam Company Medal. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he began his life long career with CSX Transportation and then retired after forty years of dedicated employment. After retiring, he became a fulltime "PawPaw" spending as much quality time with his grandchildren as he could. He never missed a ballgame or school activity. In his spare time he also enjoyed tending to his yard, fishing, hunting and boating.

Tony is preceded in death by a grandson, Kyle Gresham.

Survivors include his loving wife of forty-three years, Shelia Tyson Gresham; four daughters, Cindy (Joey) Hardigree, Kristie (Charles) Harless, Cristal (Michael) Burkhardt and Brittany (Joseph) Nelson; eight grandchildren, Christopher Hatcher, Will Hardigree, Tucker Jones, Bridgette Deyton, Bryson Jones, Jackson Burkhardt and Addison Burkhardt; sisters, Sandra (Tommy) Wilkins, Eileen (Don) Sexton and Becky Touchstone; a host of nieces and nephews; special fur baby, TJ Gresham.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at two o'clock in the afternoon on Thursday, July 1, 2021 in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Rob Touchstone officiating.

Serving as pallbearers are Michael Burkhardt, Christopher Hatcher, Will Hardigree, Tucker Jones, Bryson Jones and Jackson Burkhardt.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation from five o'clock in the evening until eight on Wednesday, the 30th of June, 2021 at Owen Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be conducted at eleven o'clock in the morning on Monday, July 5, 2021 at the Georgia National Cemetery with military honors rendered. We will be leaving in procession from the funeral home at a quarter till ten in the morning.
