

Mrs. Bergeron is survived by her husband Robert of 58 years. Rene was born in Norton, Kansas. After graduating from Norton Community High School, she graduated from Personnel Training Business School in Omaha, Nebraska. She went from there to work for the CIA in Washington, D.C. where she met her future husband Robert R.J. Bergeron an Air Force career man. They were married in Rockville, MD, August 8, 1959 in Little Flower Catholic Church. She resigned her government job and became a wife, homemaker and mother. They lived in numerous places in the states as well as England, Japan and 2 different bases in Germany.
Rene and Robert moved to Cartersville in April of 1992. Rene was holder of Kansas State FHA degree. While living in Baldwinsville, NY, she became an Advanced Emergency Medical Tech (CCT). Was a volunteer with the Greater Baldwinsville Ambulance Corps. for 10 years, became a Life Member of GBAC and a volunteer for the American Red Cross in Baldwinsville, NY for 5 years. She was also an ARC volunteer during her life here in Cartersville. Rene started the first CPR Saturday here, as well as being in charge of Health and Safety classes locally for several years. She went out to several National Disasters, Grand Forks, MN, twice to New York City after 9-11 and Biloxi, MS after Hurricane Katrina. She also served on the local Disaster Action Team for several years and helped with Blood Drives. Rene has been a volunteer for the Cartersville Medical Center Auxiliary from 2004 to 2016. She loved Nascar and bowling. She was a member of St. Catherine of Sierra Catholic Church in Kennesaw, GA. She was also a member and past officer of the Etowah Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Irvin Laurence and E. Viola Peterson Roeder; 1 sister, Delpha Steinmetz all of Norton, Kansas. She is survived by 3 children, Ronald Bergeron, wife Angela of Columbus, OH, Theresa Gibson, husband Dean of Goffstown, NH, Andre Bergeron of Cartersville, GA. Also surviving are 2 grandsons, Dustin Gibson, wife Katherine of New York City, NY and David Gibson of Goffstown, NH; 2 granddaughters, Kaitlyn Gibson of Goffstown, NH and Marta Kosmyna of Columbus, OH.; 2 sisters, Margaret Donnelly of Sterling, CO and Judy Kimball of Manhattan, KS; 2 brothers, J. Floyd Roeder (Alice) of Hutchinson, KS and Jerry Roeder (Pam of Norton, KS; numerous nieces and nephews , great nieces and nephews and some great-great nieces and nephews also survive.
Mass will be conducted on Monday, October 24th at 12::00 noon at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Rev. Juan Anzora officiating. Interment will be at a later time in the Georgia National Cemetery.
The body will lie in-state from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the church.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Owen Funeral Home.
