Evelyn Annette Sumner

Evelyn and Troy Sumner celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on July 5th. They moved to Atlanta in 1948. They joined Jackson Hill Baptist Church on January 1, 1950. After they raised their family, they returned to Bartow County in 1992 to enjoy their retirement.

Evelyn was a kind, loving, devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was an avid reader, “I Love Lucy” fan, enjoyed watching wildlife and feeding her birds and squirrels. She loved coupon cutting and cooking chocolate cookies for her seven grandsons.

Evelyn will be forever missed by Troy and her family, Ronald (Judy, Kyle, Todd), Susan (Wendell, Trevor, Elliot, Andreus), Marsha ( Mark, Jesse, Derek), Rolinda (Joe) and friends.

Services will be held at Owen Funeral Home Chapel on August 12, 2011 at 11:00 A.M.

The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.

Pallbearers will be Jesse and Derek Jones, Trevor, Elliot and Andreus Britnell and Todd and Kyle Sumner.

The Sumner family wishes to thank everyone for their many kind words and prayers, and a special thank you to the Heyman Hospice for the care and compassion that Mother received during her illness.
