Fay Nelson

Mrs. Fay Sproull Nelson, age 94, of Euharlee, GA., passed away, Friday, July 29, 2016. Mrs. Nelson was born on April 20, 1922 in Stilesboro, GA., a daughter of the late Jim Sproull and Mary Baker Sproull.

Mrs. Nelson was a member of Euharlee Presbyterian Church for many many years. In her spare time she enjoyed quilting, canning food from her late husband’s garden, and cheering on the Atlanta Braves. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren. Every Sunday after church she would cook a full course meal for the entire family to enjoy.

Along with her parents, Mrs. Nelson is preceded in death by her loving husband of fifty-two years, Mr. Glenn “Slick” Nelson; a daughter, Glenda Fay Nelson Holt; brothers, J.B. Sproull, John Sproull, Henry Sproull, Ralph Sproull, and Ray Sproull (Fay’s twin brother); and one sister, Letha Yelverton.

Mrs. Nelson is survived by her three children, Jimmy Ray (Jan) Nelson, of Euharlee, GA, Kathy Nelson Greene and Butch Morton, of Suches, GA, and Steve Sproull (Lori) Nelson, of Euharlee, GA; a son-in law, David Holt; sister, Sarah McKinney; eight grandchildren, Mary Leigh Gentry, Susan Ashley Crisp, Joseph William Nelson, Glenn Thomas Warlick, Bryan Nelson Warlick, Jason Nelson, Whitney Poston, and Jennifer Childers; twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews also survive.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at three o’clock in the afternoon on Sunday, July 31, 2016 in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Dr. Becki Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Euharlee Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from one o’clock in the afternoon until three on Sunday, July 31, 2016 at Owen Funeral Home.
