Frances Blalock Benson

Mrs. Frances Blalock Benson, age 91, of Cartersville, Georgia, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2022. She was born on May 31, 1931, in Waleska, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Aurthur Blalock and Bertha Childers Blalock.

Everyone join us as we celebrate the life of Francis Blalock Benson. It is with fond memories we think about all of the things she loved and enjoyed. You could always find her gardening, attending church services, or enjoying her pets that were dear to her heart. Francis loved gospel music and spending quality time with her family. She was a light in the hearts of those around her and loved by her family dearly. She was employed at Union Carbide for many years.

Mrs. Benson is survived by her daughter, Brenda Burt Cline; son, Tony Burt (Rachel); brother, Edward Blalock; grandchildren, Lamar Burt (Sandy), Mark Cline, Jan Burt Tidwell (Lee), Wesley Cline, Shelly Solomon (Damon), Natalie Kropff (Trey), Allison McCarty (Jake), Brittany Haynes; 10 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other extended family also survive.

Mrs. Benson is preceded in death by her parents; 1st husband, Wendell Burt and 2nd husband, William Benson; daughter, Teresa Walsh; son, Jimmy Benson; sisters, Dorothy Lee Goodwin, Lucielle Mangrum, Inez Buckner and Doris Heath; brothers, Buddy (A.J.) Blalock, Grady Blalock and Gene Blalock.

The funeral arrangements for Mrs. Benson will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at two o’clock in the afternoon at the Zion Hills Baptist Church with Pastor Jonathan Padgett and Rev. Joey Patterson officiating. Interment will follow in the Zion Hills Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family of Mrs. Benson will receive family and friends on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 from five o’clock in the afternoon until eight o’clock in the evening at Owen Funeral Home.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Burt Michael Tidwell, Kirk Walsh, Randall Heath, Damon Solomon, Christian Haynes and Jack Benefield.
