

George Thomas Lewis, 80, of Cartersville, GA passed away Thursday, November 2, 2017. Mr. Lewis was born on March 7, 1937 in Cartersville to the late Mr. Walter Eugene Lewis and Mrs. Lois Guyton Lewis.
Mr. Lewis was one of 12 children. He grew up in Cartersville, GA and served in the United States Army. Mr. Lewis was a carpenter by trade. He loved NASCAR, heavy weight boxing, and was known as a garage engineer, once making a motorcycle out of a tiller. Playing the guitar, country music and volleyball were also very important to him. He will be best remembered for his sense humor by those who knew him best.
Mr. Lewis is preceded in death by his parents, Walter Eugene Lewis and Lois Guyton Lewis, brothers; Jimmy Ray Lewis, Cug Lewis, Curtis Lewis, Fred Lewis, Luther Lewis and Charles Lewis, sisters; Josie Cobb, Jessie Howard and Margie Haney.
Mr. Lewis is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Mary Teems Lewis, sons; Tommy Lewis and Jasone (Beth) Lewis, daughters; Cindy Pruitt (Trace) and Tami Lewis, grandchildren; Tabitha Breeden, Magan Elizabeth Lackey (Anthony), Jacob Pruitt and Sean Lewis, great grandchildren; Kaiden Breeden and Jonathan Lackey, brother, Harry Lewis and sister, Jane Holcomb.
Funeral services for Mr. Lewis will be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning, Monday, November 6, 2017, in the Owen Funeral Home Chapel. The service will be officiated by Rev. Rodney Kennedy. Interment will follow the service at Church of God of the Union Assembly Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Owen Funeral Home Sunday November 5, 2017, from six o’clock in the evening until eight.
