Grace Ballard Hatfield

Though here on Earth it’s a bit dimmer, the Heavens are shinning bright with her light. The Lord says all you need is faith of a mustard seed, but this woman’s faith was a big as the world. If everyone had one tenth of the faith this woman had, the world would be a much better place. Grace was 1 of 5 children born in Cartersville, Georgia on September 26, 1931, to Mr. Max and Lois Payne Ballard. There she met her husband , Henry Donald Hatfield, whom she married December 17, 1949. Together they owned Hatfield Tire Company and built several churches in the area. Grace also held several jobs outside of the company and churches. If she wasn’t working, she was taking care of her children, grandchildren, or she was at the church. Grace and Donald shared the Church of God faith. Together they built a life and family most only dream of. She and Donald had 2 daughters whom cared for her until the end. Grace is preceded in death by her Parents, her loving Husband, her brother Jerry and sister-in-law Retta, her sister Janie and brother-in- law Paul and her brother David. She is survived by her 2 daughters and son in law, Fay(Tony) Cloud and Jan Hatfield, her grandchildren Neil (Betsy) Hudson, Michelle (Jim) Hudson, Kellen Cloud (Todd), great grandchildren Tori, Alex and Aaron, one brother Everett (Jeral) Ballard, two sister-in-laws Johnnie Ballard and Carol Hatfield, and several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. To know her was to love her. Grace's door was always open to anyone needing a helping hand or prayer. She always had a cup of coffee ready and an ear to listen. Grace was the true definition of a lady. She always carried herself with class, grace and dignity. She loved her Lord, her husband, and family. Her life was a testimony to all who knew her. Though our hearts are broken we find comfort knowing she is rejoicing in the Heavens above.

Her family will receive friends and other guest on Sunday January 19, 2020 from 5:00-7:00pm, at Owen Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Monday January 20, 2020 at 11:00am in the Chapel at Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Kenny Jacobs and Rev. C.E. Popham officiating. Graveside services will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Alex Culpepper, Aaron Thomas, Dennis Ballard, Jeffery Hatfield, Danny Massey, Daniel Lockridge, Russell Ballard, and honorary pallbearer will be Buzz Ballard.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to her caregivers Amy Bauder and Tapestry Hospice for the care and the love they showed Grace and her family.
