

Mr. Woods was born in Haralson County on January 27, 1938, the son of the late James F. (Jimmie) Woods SR. and Erma Shumate Woods. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Vivian Costlow Woods; one son Rickey Woods; daughters Charlotte and Johnny Frasier, and Lynn and Nevin Harne. Seven grandchildren; Hank Woods, Catherine Castleberry, Anna Woods, Abbey Frasier Yohe, Lee Harne, Zack Harne and Paige Ingram. Five great grandchildren; Kamdyn Woods, Ansley Ingram, Allie Ingram, Delia Ingram and Maci Harne; two sisters: Helen Satcher and Margaret Gentry; brother Larry Woods. He is preceded in death by his brother, Junior Woods.
Harvey graduated from Taylorsville High School in 1956. He retired from Union Carbide in 1993 with 35 years of service as one of the original first hired. Harvey worked at Woods Fabrication from 1993 until present. He served as the town of Taylorsville’s city councilman for 34 years. He was a lifelong member of Taylorsville Baptist Church and served humbly as a deacon, a Sunday school teacher, and had multiple leadership roles. He was devoted to church benevolence and helping those in need in any way he could.
Harvey was a 40 year member of the C.H.V.A. car club of which he was very devoted in his antique car hobby. He enjoyed many friendships there and many years of fulfilled enjoyment restoring up to 15 cars. Some of which he passed on to his grandchildren. Harvey also enjoyed a lifetime friendship of 3 very special friends that he graduated with in 1956, Doug Harris, Alton Costlow and Walter Pinson.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o'clock in the evening until eight on Thursday, the 3rd of November, 2016 at Owen Funeral Home, Cartersville GA.
Funeral Services for Mr. Woods will be conducted at two o'clock in the afternoon on Friday, the 4th of November, 2016 at Taylorsville Baptist Church, 41 Church St., Taylorsville, GA 30178 . Interment will immediately follow in Taylorsville Community Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Hank Woods, Kamdyn Woods, Lee Harne, Zack Harne, Michael Castleberry, Brett Ingram and Jason Yohe. Honorary pallbearers will be all Woods Fabrication employees. Reverend Doug Harris will be officiating the funeral services along with Rev. Tommy Harris and Rev. Nevin Harne.
