Hazel Wylene Chastain

Mrs. Chastain was born May 11, 1943 in Bartow County, Georgia, daughter of the late Ossie Sloan Knox and Goldie Jane Hardin Knox. She was a seamstress for over 30 years having worked with EZ Mills and Nantucket prior to retirement and then was a homemaker. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church for many years where she taught Sunday School and worked in the Church. She then followed her husband when he was called to Pastor Corinth Baptist Church and remained a faithful member until she passed away. Mrs. Chastain also traveled with her family for over 30 years singing gospel music and supporting her husband as he ministered. She was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Knox; a sister, Josie Knox; an infant unnamed baby who died at birth and brothers-in-law, Charles Cothran and Guice Myrick.

Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Rev. Kenneth Eugene Chastain; daughters; Wanda Chastain Henderson and Sandra Chastain Worley; son; Rev. Byron Chastain; sons-in-law; David Henderson and Perry Worley; daughter-in-law; Lea Chastain; 13 grandchildren she loved dearly; Megan Worley, Zachary Worley, Craig Keever, Nikki Keever, Hannah Henderson, Halie Henderson, David Henderson, Jr., Amberly Henderson, Dakota Martin, Brandy Owen, Jake Owen, Tommy Clay, Kaitlyn Chastain; sisters; Betty Cothran and Irene Myrick; brothers; Zackary Knox and Frank Knox; sisters-in-law; Diane Knox and Gleneze Knox-Mathison; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon July 19th at 2:00 P.M. at Oak Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Dewey Atchley, Rev. Robbie Chastain and Rev. David Baker officiating. Interment will follow in Millers Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday evening from 4:30 until 9:00 P.M. at Owen Funeral Home.

Pallbearers include Bobby Knox, Berlin Cothran, Jimmy Cothran, Jim Vincent, Bobby Vincent and Kevin Chastain. Honorary Women include Patricia Powell, Carolyn King, Pat Stokes, Megan Worley, Beverly Wehunt and Judy Brock.
