Herbert was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 47 years, Martha Jean Hilburn, who passed away in 2012; his wife, Betty Lou Hilburn; and his brother, Kenneth Hilburn.
He is survived by his two sons, Michael Hilburn (Stephanie) and Brian Hilburn; three cherished grandchildren, Hannah Hilburn, Justin Hilburn, and Griffin Hilburn; and his brother, Ronald Hilburn (Yvette).
Herbert graduated with the charter class of North Cobb High School before joining the United States Army. He proudly served overseas in Turkey during the 1960s and remained deeply proud of his military service throughout his life. He later attended Reinhardt College and went on to enjoy a long and dedicated career with Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, where he worked for 39 years before retiring. He also took great pride in his involvement with the IAM Union.
Above all, Herbert treasured his family. He was especially proud of his grandchildren, who lovingly knew him as “Paw Paw.” He found great joy in spending time with his loved ones, traveling, and taking photographs to capture special memories. His love for his family, his dedication to his work, and his pride in his service were important parts of the life he lived.
Herbert will be lovingly remembered by his family and all who knew him. His memory will live on in the many moments shared, the photographs he took, and the lasting love he leaves behind.
