Irene G. Higdon

Mrs. Higdon was born July 29, 1909 in Polk County, the daughter of the late, Ellic and Etta (Mitchell) Glass and was a member of Peeples Valley Baptist Church.

She was preceded In death by her first husband and the father of her children, Albert Shepard, her second husband, Sam Higdon, children, Kathryn Shepard, Wallace Bob Shepard, Bonnie Kincannon, Lorene Poole, two sisters, Marie Hicks and Willie Ellis and three brothers, John Glass, Edgar Glass and L.C. Glass.

Surviving are her grandchildren, Tony Kincannon (Pam), Michelle Waits, Eddie Kincannon, David Poole, Malinda Davis (Anthony) and Kevin Kincannon (Tammy), 12 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 20, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Hoyt Jones and Rev. Darrell Bailey officiating.

Burial will follow in Oak Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Terry Martin, Michael Poole, Jacob Waits, Zachary Waits, Jody Overby and Kevin Kincannon.

Owen Funeral Home, 12 Collins Drive, Cartersville, Georgia is in charge of the arrangements.
