

Mr. Brand was known by all as Pawpaw.
Pawpaw was born on January 3, 1929 in Stone Mountain, GA, son of the late Lyman Jonas Brand and Inez Campbell Brand.
Pawpaw was a quiet man, who loved the Lord. He would always say, “you preach your own funeral by the way you live.” He was a true and faithful servant of the Lord and a proud member of Emerson Baptist Church.
Mr. Brand proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. After his service, he was a lifelong optician. In his spare time he enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing and working on the farm. He could fix anything that anyone needed help with. His true joy in life was spending quality time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Pawpaw is preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty-five years, Martha Ellene Elder Brand; brothers, Clark Brand, Joe Brand and Bob Brand; sisters, Bett Brand Wiggley and June Brand Hunt.
Survivors include his daughter, Beverly Brand; son, James Russell (Kay) Brand; grandchildren, Stacey (Chris) Malcom; Cori (Jason) Harding, James (Tricia) Haney, Phillip (Ginny) Brand, Jessica (Phillip) Lee, Brittany Brand and Mark (Kellyn) Brand; Pawpaw’s great-grandchildren are Addison Malcom, Amanda Malcom, Onnalee Harding, Will Haney, Eli Haney, Jakob Haney, Waylon Haney, Lane Martin, Clay Brand, Rhet Brand, Luke Brand, Tate Brand, Martha Kay Lee, Sam Lee and Seth Lee; brother, Ernest Brand; sisters, Sarah Sheppard and Mary Maijala; a host of nieces and nephews also survive.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning on Wednesday, the 5th of April, 2023 at Emerson Baptist Church with Chris Welden and Jason Harding officiating. Interment will follow in Melwood Cemetery, Stone Mountain, GA.
Serving as pallbearers are Chris Malcom, Jason Harding, Phillip Brand, Mark Brand, Phillip Lee and Lane Martin.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock in the evening until seven on Tuesday, the 4th of April, 2023 at Owen Funeral Home and ten o'clock in the morning until eleven on Wednesday, the 5th of April, 2023 at Emerson Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Pawpaw’s honor to The Emerson Baptist Church Youth Fund at 11 Franklin Loop SE, Cartersville, GA 30120.
