James Michael Casteel

Mike was born in McMinn County, TN on October 19, 1958 to the late James A. and Maritha Swartout Casteel.

He is survived by his sister, Pamela Smith (randy); niece, Jennifer Vincent; great nephews, Braden Stanley and Jalen McFarland

Mike was raised in Cobb County Ga. He was saved at the age of 10 and rededicated his life to following Christ at age 25. In grade school, he played basketball. In grade school, middle school and high school he was an honor roll student, lifted weights and played baseball winning trophies. Mike hit grand slams twice in one game when he was 16. He wanted to play professional baseball but was injured in a car accident just a month later in September 1975. His dream was not able to be fulfilled. Mike was a member of Rowland Springs Baptist Church. Mike was a huge Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldogs fan. Most importantly, he is a child of God and taught many adult Sunday School classes.

Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023 from 12-1pm with a Celebration of Life Service at 1pm from the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Dr. Joe Ringwalt officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.
