Mr. James Garrison, age 86, of Cartersville, Georgia, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, March 15, 2019. James was born on January 4, 1933, in Stilesboro, Georgia, to the late Mr. James and Mrs. Ellen Garrison.
James served his country proudly as a soldier in the United States Army as a Sergeant, stationed in Germany. He worked for General Motors at Lakewood for thirty years on the assembly line building Chevrolets. He loved Chevrolets and had a life long passion for driving and working on them, and would not drive anything else. In his later years, he and his wife, Joyce, loved working in the garden and raising flowers, with red salvias being his most favorite.
James was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his brother, Jack Garrison, and his sister, Thelma Stephenson.
James is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Mrs. Joyce Garrison. He is also survived by two of his brothers, Mr. Guy (Judy) Garrison and Mr. Larry (Vickie) Garrison, and one of his sisters, Mrs. Teena Floyd. Many nieces and nephews also survive to cherish James's memory.
A graveside service to celebrate James's life will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2019, at eleven o'clock in the morning at Sunset Memory Gardens with the Reverend Kenny Jacobs officiating.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, March 18, 2019, from four o'clock in the afternoon until seven o'clock in the evening at Owen Funeral Home.
