Jim was born on February 23, 1933 in Hackensack, NJ, son of the late Arthur Gundlah and Myrtle Brower Gundlah.
Jim proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict from 1952-1955 as an aircraft mechanic. After the military he married the love of his life who he met in the seventh grade, Carol Dioszeghy Gundlah. Jim was a life-long upholsterer and interior decorator. Upon retirement, the relocated to Georgia and began traveling most of the United States and the world. In his spare time, he enjoyed working with his hands, tinkering in his workshop, eating out at the Marietta Fish Market, reading about history, visiting civil war battle sites and watching the New York Yankees and NASCAR.
Jim was a true and faithful servant of the Lord and a proud member of Hawthorne Gospel Church in Hawthorne, NJ and Tabernacle Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, a Sunday school and Bread of Life teacher.
The light of his world was spending quality time with his family and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Florence Keating; brother, Robert Gundlah; brother-in-law, James (Marcelle) Dioszeghy.
Survivors include his loving wife of sixty-five years, Carol D. Gundlah; children, Linda Gundlah, Arthur (Tammy) Gundlah, Janet (Tom) Hodges, Brenda Gundlah and Philip (Marie) Gundlah; grandchildren, Victoria (Scott) Mooney, Amber (Matt) Redlin, Alexandra Gundlah, Madison Gundlah, Leah Gundlah, Jason (Dorian) Hodges, Nathan Hodges, Jeremy (Krysten) Hodges, Mark Burger, Christopher Burger, Andrew Gundlah, Patrick Gundlah and Olivia Gundlah; great-grandchildren, Evelyn Hodges, Shiloh Hodges and Denver Hodges; brother, Theodore Gundlah; brother-in-laws, John (Nancy) Dioszeghy and Peter Whitman; many nieces and nephews also survive.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at two o'clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at Tabernacle Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Brown officiating.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from twelve-thirty until the service time at Tabernacle Baptist Church.
