I have known James Ross since my high school days, since I was best friends with his sister Carolyn. Being an only child, I was always envious of the love between Carolyn and her brothers. James Ross was always larger than life to me. He had that gruff exterior but underneath all that bluster was a heart of gold. My last memory of him was at a cookout at his brother Larry’s house. I had not seen a lot of him but knew he hadn’t been feeling well. Somehow, he and I ended up in the family room with our plates of food. We sat and talked and I realize now what a blessing that was to reconnect with him. I will cherish that memory always.
