

Jim was born on May 16, 1951 in Marietta, GA, son of the late George Lester Payne and Betty McEver Hembree.
Jim retired from Chemical Products after thirty-eight years of dedicated employment as a machinist. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf and being outdoors. He loved having dinner and spending quality time with his family and friends. He was of the Baptist faith and grew up in Dewey Baptist Church in White, GA and had been proudly attending NorthPointe Church in Adairsville, GA.
Jim is preceded in death by his brothers, John Payne and Jerry Payne.
Survivors include his son, Alex (Julie) Payne; grandchildren, MacKenzie Payne and Grant Payne, Rea Bearden, Riley Bearden and Braxton Bearden, Jaxon and Chloe Welchel; sister, Renee Payne; half-sister, Mechelle Payne; several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at two o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday, April 20th, 2019 at NorthPointe Church with Rev. Jim Pinkard, Fred Painter and Terry Layton officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Dewey Baptist Church Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Randy Collins, Randy Allen, Phillip James, Daniel Loyal, Joe Allen and Allen Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers are Fred Painter, Jack Mays, Alan Hamby, Greg and Roger Kendricks, David Ferguson, Williams Watkins and James Brown.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o'clock in the evening until eight on Friday, the 19th of April, 2019 at Owen Funeral Home.
