Jerry Wayne Stanford

Wayne Stanford, 59, of Marietta, formerly of Cartersville, died Tuesday, October 11, 2011, following a lengthy illness.

Mr. Stanford was born July 14, 1952 in Decatur, Alabama, a son of the late Hugh Wilson Stanford and Hazel Lucille Willingham Stanford.

He was a 1970 graduate of Cartersville and a 1975 graduate of West Georgia College where he was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity and was an Eagle Scout. He was employed as a Vice President for the Bank of America where he worked for twenty three years.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Phyllis Vanessa Stanford, one son, Michael Wayne Stanford, of Marietta, two sisters, Emily Stanford Prevost, of St. Charles, Ill., and Kay Stanford McAulliffe, of Palmetto, Florida and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 3:30 P.M. Saturday, October 15, 2011 from the Chapel of the Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Tony Samples officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill cemetery.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Boy Scouts of America, 100 E. 2nd Ave., Suite 10, Rome, Ga. 30161 or the American Cancer Society.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 till 2:30 P.M. on Saturday.
