John Leslie Cagle Sr.
February 7, 1942 – July 9, 2019
On Tuesday, July 9, 2019, John Leslie Cagle Sr., loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away at the age of 77. John was born on February 7, 1942 in Cartersville GA to Mack and Willie Cagle, also of Cartersville GA.
John enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1960 and served for 4 years and retired Airman First Class. On May 2, 1964, “Cagle” married his wife, Phyllis Yvonne Cagle, at Moses Lake in the state of Washington. He is the second brother of four siblings, Neal Cagle, Diane Smith and Judy Culberson.
Cagle was a man of many words. He loved to engage in a conversation with anyone and rarely met a stranger. He was inventive and loved to tinker on any and everything. He was an avid gun collector and enjoyed strolling down an aisle of Harry’s Pawn Shop in Kennesaw GA where he and Phyllis resided for the past 40 years. He LOVED the company of his pal, Mr. Kitty.
John is preceded in death by his father, Mack, mother, Willie, wife, Phyllis and brother, Neal. He is survived by his son and wife, John Jr. and Beth Cagle, his daughter and husband, Nina and Larry Strickland, his sisters Diane Smith and Judy Culberson. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Nikki, Brittany, Kendra, and Gray and great grandchildren, Mason, Tyson, Graycen, Brodie, Kiarii, James Jr. and Kaycen.
A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Fields Chapel United Methodist Church (1331 Fields Chapel Rd, Canton, GA 30114). The family will receive friends during the half hour prior to the service.
A committal service will be conducted on Monday July 22, 2019, at 10:30 A.M. at Georgia National Cemetery (1080 Scott Hudgens Dr, Canton, GA 30114) with military honors rendered by the United States Air Force.
