John Richard Summey

Mr. Summey was born January 27, 1950, in Bartow County, the son of the late, Francis and Louise (Davis) Summey. He was a U.S. Army Veteran from 1969-1971, was formerly employed at Southern Color and was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church and was a Deacon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother in law, Steve Abernathy, his mother in law and father in law, Richard and Josephine Harris, sisters in law, Betty Jean and Inez Harris and a brother in law, Terry Harris.

Surviving is his wife of 46 years, Barbara (Harris) Summey of Cartersville, a daughter and son in law, Stacia and Eugene Chappell of Cartersville, two lovely , precious grandchildren, Sonja and Skylar Chappell, a sister, Cathy Abernathy of Cartersville, brothers and sisters in law, Marion and Ann Summey of Adairsville, Donnie and Pat Summey of Cartersville, Ronnie and Jane Summey of Dalton, David and Kay Summey of Cartersville, brothers in law and sisters in law, Robert and Barbara Harris, Raymond and Barbara Harris, Ronnie and Kitty Harris all of Cartersville, sister in law, Patsy Summey of Cartersville, and a number of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, aunt, uncles, church friends and other close friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 6, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Hill Baptist Church with Rev. David Baker and Rev. Jonathan Padgett officiating.

Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 5:00-8:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will be D.J. Summey, D.J. Lanham, Steve Southern, Jeff Southern, Kelly Abernathy and Phil Summey.
