John W. Waits

Mr. Waits was born January 30, 1930 in Bartow County, the son of the late, Homer and Charlcie Mae (Ingram) Waits. He was owner of Waits and Sons Plumbing Company and of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed Deer hunting, fishing and camping and loved his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, E.M. Waits, James Waits, Bennie Waits and Wyley (Rosey) Waits and two sisters, Ruby Hufstetler and Anna Lou Cook.

Surviving is his loving wife of 62 years, Bonnie Waits of Emerson, daughters and sons in law, Yvonne and Michael Mercer of Cartersville, Patricia and L.C. Owens of Cartersville, son, Johnny Ikey Waits of Emerson, grandchildren, Carisa and Chuck Mercado, Chris Mercer, Jonathan and Vanessa Owens, six great-grandchildren, Carson Mercado, Carmen Mercado, Ansley Mercer, Levi Mercer, Hunter Owens, Carter Owens, a brother, Jack Waits of Euharlee and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 31, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Mitchell and Rev. David Young officiating.

Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 5:00-8:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Owens, Chris Mercer, Tony Sanford, Richard Crowder, Jackie Waits and Dillard Cook.

Owen Funeral Home, 12 Collins Drive, Cartersville, Georgia is in charge of the arrangements.
