Mr. Chapman was born March 3, 1939 in Bartow County, a son of the late George and Arnie Stewart Chapman. He was a member of the Heritage Baptist Church and retired from the CSX Railroad. Johnny was a 1958 graduate of Cartersville High School, where he loved and participated in athletics. He loved to be the life of any gathering. He always said,” If you’re not going to have a good time, don’t go.” Johnny showed you that he loved you by making you laugh, usually at your own expense.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Jane Taff Chapman, sons and daughter in law, Blake Chapman and Curt and Sarah Chapman, his daughter and son in law, Lori and James Edwards, his grandchildren, Stephanie and T.J. Ellenburg, Ashley Demonbreun, James Paul Edwards and Mallie Chapman, two great grandchildren, Emma Isom and Jesse Cole.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, November 7, 2013, from the Chapel of the Owen Funeral Home, with Rev. Jeff Wright and Rev. Michael Tutterow officiating. Interment will be in the Raccoon Creek Baptist Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Guy Taff, Taff Wrenn, Dusty, Kyle and Ty Taff and Jesse Demonbreun.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Disciple Sunday School Class at Heritage Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Heritage Baptist Church, Douthitt Fery Road, Cartersville, Ga. 30120.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 till 7:00 P.M. Wednesday.
