Jose Alejandro Guerrero

Alejandro Guerrero passed away at his home on October 25th, 2021. He was born in Mexico City, Mexico on August 26th, 1953 to Jose Guerrero Barron and Maria de Jesus Hurtado Olvera. Alejandro was the founder of the Pequeños Hermanos del Anciano in 1982 in Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico with the guidance and support from the Les Petits Freres Des Pauvres in Montreal, Canada. He came to Chicago, IL in 1992 in hopes of creating a better life for his family. While in Chicago, he helped establish the Hispanic Program for Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly and became Director of Programs. In 1999, Alejandro established the affiliate for Little Brothers in Miami, Florida. He was passionate about helping the elderly and immigrant rights. In 2006, Alejandro and his family moved to

Cartersville, GA where he rooted good relationships with the Latino community through his work at various local banks, financial institutions, and Shaw Industries.

Friends and family will remember him as someone with a big heart who advocated for immigrant rights and the elderly. He was passionate about soccer, loved learning about different cultures, enjoyed working in his yard, and enjoyed dancing with his best hat. Alejandro will be dearly missed but never forgotten

Alejandro is survived by his wife Elvira Colato; his daughters; Laura Alejandra Santa-Maria and her husband Jose Santa-Maria; Helen Pye and her husband Micah Pye; and Sophia Catalina Guerrero; four grandchildren Alex, Caroline, Lulu and Oliver; his sister Graciela Aurora; his brother Carlos Fernando; and his nephews and niece: Gabriel, Luis Eduardo, Mario Alberto and Julia Alejandra.

A Mass will be held in his honor at St. Francis Assisi Catholic Church in Cartersville, GA on Saturday, October 30th, 2021, at 6 p.m.

Alejandro Guerrero falleció en su casa el día 25 de octubre de 2021. Nació en México el día 26 de agosto de 1953, en la Ciudad de México. Sus padres fueron José Guerrero Barrón y María de

Jesús Hurtado Olvera. Alejandro fundó el proyecto “Pequeños Hermanos del Anciano” en 1982 en la ciudad de Acapulco, Guerrero en México, con la guía y el apoyo de “Les Petits Frères des Pauvres” en Montreal, Canadá. En 1992 se trasladó a Chicago, IL en los Estados Unidos, con la esperanza de crear una mejor vida para su familia. Mientras estuvo en Chicago, ayudó a establecer el programa hispano de “Little Brothers - Friends of the Elderly”, donde se desempeñó como Director de Programas. En 1999 inició la filial de Little Brothers en Miami, Florida. Su pasión fue ayudar a las personas mayores y abogar por los derechos de los inmigrantes. En 2006, Alejandro y su familia se cambiaron a Cartersville, GA, donde fincó buenas relaciones con la comunidad latina a través de su trabajo en varios bancos e instituciones financieras locales y en el grupo Shaw Industries.

Sus amigos y familiares lo recordarán como una persona de gran corazón que luchó por los derechos de los inmigrantes y de los ancianos. Lo apasionaba el fútbol soccer, amaba aprender acerca de culturas diferentes, disfrutaba trabajar en el jardín y bailar con su mejor sombrero. Alejandro deja un vacío difícil de llenar. Lo sobreviven su esposa, Elvira Colato; sus hijas, Laura Alejandra Santa-María y su esposo José Santa-María, Helen Pye y su esposo Micah Pye, y Sophia Catalina Guerrero; cuatro nietos, Alex, Caroline, Lulu y Oliver; sus hermanos Graciela Aurora y Carlos Fernando; y sus sobrinos, Gabriel, Luis Eduardo, Mario Alberto y Julia Alejandra. Se celebrará una Misa en su honor en la Iglesia Católica St. Francis Assisi en Cartersville, Georgia el sábado 30 de octubre de 2021 a las 6 p. m.
