
Judith grew up on Lookout Mountain in Fort Payne and graduated from Fort Payne High School in 1960. She received degrees from Jacksonville State University (BS 1963) and the University of Alabama (MA 1965). She taught junior high school and high school English for 28 years and was a high school counselor for some of those years in Alabama, Texas, Mississippi and Georgia. Judith enjoyed being a teacher, especially literature and English as a Second Language. She was a member of Cartersville First Baptist Church, where she was known for her passion and support for Global Missions. She traveled the world extensively and lived in three foreign countries for several months at a time with the Baptist International Mission Board and did multiple shorter-term trips to share the Gospel of Jesus Chris. Judith often commented “an awesome God has given me an amazing life story”.
Judith is the loving mother of her two children, and is survived by daughter Robyn Anise Puckett of Warrenton, VA and son Philip Dane Puckett, local, and son-in-law Christopher Michael Hammerle. Survivors also include two nephews and a grand nephew and grand niece and many cousins.
She is preceded in her death by her husband, Glen Puckett, her brother Donald Hubbard Hughes, and her parents.
In lieu of flowers, please give generously to Judith’s life-long passion, the Lottie Moon Global Mission Fund, either through Cartersville First Baptist Church, or directly to The Baptist International Mission Board in Richmond, Virginia.
A Celebration of Life Service will be at the Lottie Moon Chapel of Cartersville First Baptist Church on May 9, 2025 with a visitation beginning at 11:00 and service at 1200.
Interment will be at Fischer Cemetery on Lookout Mountain at Fort Payne, Alabama on 9 May at 3:00 EST, 2:00 Central Time.
Honorary Pallbearers are the gentlemen of the Fellowship Sunday School Class of Cartersville First Baptist Church.
