Kayla Nicole Blackwell passed with peace and grace on Saturday, June 20, 2020. She was born to Mr. John Blackwell and Mrs. Kimberly Johnson on January 17, 1993. A true Georgian, she lived the majority of her life in Cartersville, GA surrounded by the most important things in her life God, family, friends, and country music.

She was a fearless and strong young woman, successfully completing high school and triumphantly enduring two heart transplants. No matter the circumstance, she was ready with a laugh and a smile or a witty comeback. Always on the move, she often traveled across the country as her dad’s co-pilot visiting her siblings, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, or finding the best spot on the beach. She will always be remembered for singing country music at the top of her lungs and for being an eternally happy and strong daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend whose greatest passion was her family and friends. She was an example to everyone she met, there was nothing her love and strength could not overcome.

She is preceded in death by Junius Blackwell, Shirley Parton, Rafael Caraballo III, Kass Caraballo.

She is survived by her father, John Blackwell and mother, Kimberly Johnson (Walter Johnson). Grandparents: Iris Blackwell (Tony Rodriguez), Roger Parton (Papa), Walter Johnson (Rosa Johnson). Kayla was one of the most beautiful, strongest, God fearing women I’ve ever known. There’s no amount of words that can be said here today that could truly illustrate the angel on earth my sister, Kayla is. There was something that was truly different about Kayla but when I say that I don’t mean physically. But different emotionally and spiritually. When my sweet Kayla would walk into a room you could sense her gentle kind spirit. Her smile was genuine, it was the kind of smile that was contagious. It was the kind of smile that if you didn’t know that the joy of the Lord existed, you did after you seen that beautiful smile. Kayla was a walking talking miracle and nothing shy of that. She was courageous and strong she was completely fearless. Growing up I seen Kayla go through so much! When she was 11 years old she had her second transplant and suffered from a lot of complications. Watching the change in my sissy absolutely devastated me. But it’s the very reason I have a connection with God. It’s watching someone go through so much and never complain, never questioned a God, never blamed anyone. I know many times Kayla and I had talks with her aspiring to want to be a nurse (which if you knew her, you knew she would of been amazing at it), to wanting children, or to be able to fall in love, or even something that seems so simple to us. But would of been a huge deal for her, driving. But those things never held Kayla back she was dedicated to her Heavenly Father and whole family. There’s many things that made me ask why. But sitting here today it has finally sank in why. Which is because God needed her for his glory! He needed Kayla to be a testament of his love. That’s exactly what she has been to me and everyone she came in contact with.
The verse I know that is standing true for Kayla today is...
Isaiah 53:5 He was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his stripes we are healed.
