

Kent Rayburn Black, age 85, passed away on June 2, 2026. Kent was born August 2, 1940, the son of Criss and Camilla Black. He had seven siblings; Johnnie Cline (Jim), Bobbie Hollingshed (Guy), Charles Black (Geneva), Kay Black (Bobbie Joe), Grace Epps (Marvin), Murriel Hollingshed (Alvin) and Wayne Black (Barbara).
He was a 1958 graduate of Cass high school. He worked for the Georgia State Patrol for 30 years and served two years in the US Army. Kent loved the Lord Jesus and faithfully served him in various roles at Tabernacle Baptist Church over his lifetime. He enjoyed spending time with family, woodworking and gardening.
Kent was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Black, of 54 years in 2018. He has survived by his two sons; Kevin Black (Sunshine) and Alan Black (Brandy) and 12 grandchildren; Karsten, Caleb, Kelby, Camilla, Natalie, Hunter, Abigail, Jason, Ellie, Reilly, Reghan, and Reece.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at The Fountains for their love and care for Kent over the last 2 1/2 years.
A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 pm on Saturday, June 13, 2026 in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Patrick Latham officiating. The interment will follow at Oak Hill cemetery with Glen Hollingshed, Jerry Prewett, Reilly Black, Karsten Black, Caleb Black and Kelby Black serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Tabernacle Baptist Church SEEK campaign.
