Lamar "Fuzzy" Bell

Lamar is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Adell Bell; brother, Gene Bell; and sister-in-law Cheryl York. He is survived by his wife, Vivian Bell; children, Scotty Bell and Kristy (Nathan) Underwood; daughter-in-law, Amy Bell; grandchildren, Catie Bell, Callie Bell, Caleb Underwood, Chloe Underwood; sister, Doris (J.T) Jones; sister-in-law, Sue Bell; sister-in-law Penny (Alan) Daly sister-in-law Melissa Little, and many nieces and nephews.

Lamar was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved to tell a great story, joke, or even pull a mischievous prank. Lamar and Vivian were high school sweethearts and was married for 58 years. He graduated from Cherokee High School. He partnered with Paul and Gene Bell at Bell Logging for over 25 years. He worked for Lloyd Haynes Grading and finished his career with the Cherokee County Road Department. He and Vivian have been valuable members of The Church at Liberty Square where Lamar served in many roles such as Usher, Elder and Board Member, Prayer Partner, Brave Hearts, Choir Member, and Men of Valor. He loved sports especially Football, Basketball, Baseball, and Softball. He was an Army Veteran who enjoyed umpiring, playing travel softball, and coaching for men’s, women’s, co-ed, and youth leagues. He was also President of the Cherokee County Umpires Association for Softball for many years.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Pastor Eric Helms officiating. The interment will follow at Providence Cemetery with Caleb Underwood, Rex Jones, Shane Jones and the Jones boys serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm.
