Larry was born on March, 7, 1951 in Cartersville, GA, son of the late John Oliver Vaughan and Melba Leachman Vaughan.
Larry retired from CSX Transportation after 34 years of dedicated service as a Locomotive Engineer.
He was the happiest when he was spending quality time with his family and friends camping, fishing, boating, grilling out and telling tall tales that would make everyone laugh.
He was of the Baptist faith and a proud and active member of Rowland Springs Baptist Church and he loved his church family. He was so very proud of his two sons and the men they have become and he didn't mind sharing that with everyone.
The struggle is over and the Celebration has begun. Praising Jesus and reuniting with his family and his best little beagle buddy Copper. This thought brings us much Peace and Joy
Larry is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of forty-seven years, Debbie Perkins Vaughan; sons, Chris (Heather) Vaughan and Carey (Ginger) Vaughan; brother, Dwight (Becky) Vaughan; sister, Judy (Ray) Malone; several nieces and nephews. A special thank you to his brother-in-law and family, Steve (Sherri) Perkins for the love and care they have shown throughout this journey.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at three o’clock in the afternoon on Sunday, the 24th of June, 2018 at Rowland Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Ringwalt officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Pine Log Cemetery.
