Laura Jean Henson

Mrs. Laura Jean Henson, 97, of Cartersville, GA passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2018. Mrs. Henson was born December 31, 1920 to the late Mr. Clifford Phillips and Mrs. Marie Prather Phillips in Lost Mountain, GA.

Mrs. Henson was an avid gardener. She loved handicrafts and cooking. She was a leader in every sense of the word. She was a patient mother . Mrs. Henson was also devoted to her church and her Savior.

Mrs. Henson is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years Mr. Edwin B. Henson and her daughter, Marie Henson Dender.

Ms. Henson is survived by her sons; Clifford Henson (Connie) and Dennis Henson(Teresa), daughters; Lawana Pace, Linda Gravitt (Lamar) and Terri Cooper (Shane), grandchildren; Diane Williams, Kim Diaz, Lea Holton, Lori Vite, Will Dender, David Henson, Lisa Salinas, Melissa Parris, Shane Pace, Kyle Pace, Cindy Williams, Brady Gravitt, Kristy St. Claire, Laura Morris, Chuck Henson, Jimmy Henson and Luci Henson, brother, Irvin Phillips and 25 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren Many nieces and nephews also survive to cherish Mrs. Henson's memory.

A funeral service will be conducted Sunday, February 18, 2018 at two o'clock in the afternoon at Heritage Baptist Church, Cartersville. Officiating will be the Reverend Michael Tutterow. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Cartersville, GA.

The family will receive friends from five o'clock in the afternoon until seven at Owen Funeral Home, Saturday, February 17, 2018.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital
