Laverne H. Owens

LaVerne Hatfield Owens, age 95, of Cartersville, Georgia, passed away on December 4, 2021. Daughter of the late Paul A. Hatfield Sr. and Della Camp Hatfield Jones, Mrs. Owens was born on April 18, 1926 in Euharlee, Georgia.

Mrs. Owens was a longtime member of Pine Grove Baptist Church in Cartersville. After twenty years of service, she proudly retired from Cartersville City Schools as the Secretary for Cartersville High School. Mrs. Owens worked as a Rosie Riveter for Bell Bomber in Marietta (now Lockheed) from 1944-1945.

Along with her parents, Mrs.

Owens is preceded in death by her brothers, Paul A. Hatfield Jr. and Richard “Coot” Hatfield; sister, Doris Lively; and great-grandson, Leroy Cole. She is survived by son, Kenny (Hope) Owens of Dublin, GA; daughter, Marta Owens of Cartersville, GA; grandchildren, Greyson (Lauren) Owens, Alicia McMurrian, Jake Flanders all of Dublin, GA, Mandi Smith, Judson Smith and Molli (Trent) Cole all of Cartersville, GA; great grandchildren, Sam Owens, Grey Owens, Henry Owens, Emma Pruitt, Jack Pruitt, Cardin McMurrian, Abe Flanders all of Dublin, GA, and Mulaney, Jacey and Sidney Tant, Madilyn, and Lura Smith all of Cartersville, GA; and many extended family members and friends to cherish her memory.

Services to honor Mrs. LaVerne Owens will be held at a later date.
