Ms. Eunice Mae Beavers, age 79, of Calhoun, Georgia, and formerly of Cartersville, Georgia, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, May 29, 2019.

Mae was born on August 2, 1939, in Cartersville, Georgia, to the late Mr. Henry E. and Mrs. Hazel I. Pruitt.

Mae grew up attending Cartersville City Schools, and graduated from Cartersville High School in 1957. She went on to nursing school at Marietta Cobb Vocational Technical College, where she received her Associates Degree in Nursing, and went on to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked with her mother in private nursing for many years, rotating daytime and nighttime shifts with her, who was also an LPN. She went on to become the Activities Director at Springdale Convalescence Center (now Cartersville Heights) in Cartersville, where she worked until she retired in 2008. She took a lot of pride in her job, and was passionate about serving her patients and their families. She was known to, occasionally, take her patients on unauthorized field trips, including taking four patients on an airplane ride, bringing patients to her home for home cooked meals, and taking patients (who were physically able, of course) on rides on her husband's and son's motorcycles. As additional entertainment for her patients, she was also known to take her son's pet goat, Bucket, to work, where she would let it roam the halls and visit with the patients. She would keep a busy activities calendar for each month, and would include such things as an annual dance, a pet day, Elvis day, Sunday services each week, and hair and beauty day, just to name a few. She was an incredibly generous and loving person, and she will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Mae is preceded in death by her parents, as well as her brother, Henry F. Pruitt.

She is survived by her brother, William Troy (Jackie) Pruitt; her son, Mark (Emily) Beavers; her two grandsons, Ethan and Evan Beavers; and her nephews, Keith (Beckie) and Darren Pruitt, Eric and Joey Beavers.

A Celebration of Life Service to honor and remember Mae will be conducted on Sunday, June 2, 2019 at four o'clock in the afternoon in the Chapel of Owen Funeral Home with the Rev. Gregg Free officiating. A private interment for family will follow the service at Sunset Memorial Mausoleum. Serving as pallbearers for the service will be Mark Beavers, Ethan Beavers, Evan Beavers, Eric Beavers, Keith Pruitt, and John Carney.

Mae's family will receive friends at the funeral home for visitation at the funeral home on Sunday from one o'clock in the afternoon until the service hour.

I have many fond memories of Mae, I was her manicurist for years. She was always so full of fun and was a truly wonderful caring person. My deepest sympathy...

I worked with and for Mae at Springdale for several years. She was an excellent Activity Director, I had a great respect for her and enjoyed the time in which I worked for her. She truly cared about the residents, she made sure the had plenty of activities and the ability to socialize.
I had just this past Wednesday told a friend that God had placed Mae on my mind. I then heard of her passing late Thursday evening. Please know that all of the family are in my thoughts and prayers. May God give you comfort and peace as only He can. God Bless Debbie Alston
