Maggie Lee Potts

Maggie was born on January 7, 1927, one of ten children of Grover Dupree and Mattie Millsap Dupree.

Maggie led a full and loving life. She was a very sweet woman who truly cared about everyone. You would always see Maggie wearing a smile on her face. From growing up on a farm to raising and caring for her family at home in her older years, Maggie was truly always happy.

She had a strong relationship with the Lord and loved singing gospel songs. Maggie also enjoyed listening to gospel music. She loved every flower she came across and always wanted to see their bright colors. Maggie and her beautiful smile will truly be missed by all.

Maggie is preceded in death by first husband, Chesley "Chet" Benefield and John "Robert" Potts; mother, Mattie Millsap Dupree; father, Grover Dupree; son, Chesley "Snooky" Benefield, Jr.; brothers, Grover "Junior" Dupree, Jr., Howard Dupree, James "Bunk" Dupree and Willie "Bill" Dupree; and sister, Kathleen "Bird" Hatfield.

She is survived by daughter, Janie Jones Portwood and her spouse, Joel Portwood; brother, Charles "Nub" Dupree; sisters, Ruby Dupree, Ella Matthews and Leila Heath; grandchildren, Emi Jones Smith and Todd Jones; great grandchildren, Koby Henson, Kyle Jones and many extended family members and friends to cherish her memory.

Maggie's family would like to thank the entire staff of Maple Ridge Healthcare Center for providing excellent care and love to our family.

A funeral service for Mrs. Maggie Potts will be held on September 27, 2021 in the Chapel of Owen Funeral Home at twelve o’clock in the afternoon with Pastor David "Doc" Hatfield officiating. Mark Dupree, Harold Dean Dupree, Charles Dupree and Jason Dupree will be serving as pallbearers.

Friends are cordially invited for visitation with the Potts family one hour before the service.
