Margaret Smith Branton

Mrs. Branton was born on December 31, 1925 in Bartow County, Georgia daughter of the late Joseph Leonard Smith and Linda Cline Smith. She attended Cartersville High School and worked for Union Carbide for over 20 years. She was a member of Cassville Baptist Church where she loved her Church family. She was loving and caring and was a hard worker. She loved flowers, cooking and canning. She was a seamstress and taught her daughters how to sew.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Branton; Great Grandson, Aaron Cromer; brothers, Robert and Taylor Smith; sisters, Fannie Leachman and Louise Poole.

Survivors include her children, Sharyn Kown, Lynn Dooley, Janice Reed and her husband Emmett all of Cartersville, GA, Phillip Branton and his wife Diane of Thompson Station, TN; grandchildren, Beth Doty, and husband David, Laurie Kown, Tye Kown, Brett Dooley and wife Tina, Tyra Dooley, Brian Reed, Corey Reed and wife April, Marci Carter and husband Brian; great grandchildren, Keith Overton, Hunter Cromer, Hannah Kown, Trent Dooley, Heath Dooley, Teigh Dooley, Levi Dooley, Cameron Adams, Kyleigh Adams, Conner Adams, Zachary Reed, Emmie Reed, Victoria Reed and Leila Reed; great-great grandchild, Callie Grace Dooley; brother, Oliver Smith; brothers in-laws, Joe Branton and wife Mary and Ralph Branton; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at two o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Cassville Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Cansler officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from six o’clock in the evening until eight on Friday, August 28, 2015 at Owen Funeral Home.

Pallbearers include, Brett Dooley, Tye Kown, Brian Reed, Corey Reed, Brian Smith and Joe Poole.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cassville Baptist Church Building Fund.
