Margaret Louise Parris, born August 11, 1938, was lovingly known as “Louise” to her friends, “Mom” to her children, and “Mermer” to her grandchildren. She passed away on Saturday, October 3rd, at the esteemed age of 88 years old.
She was the beloved wife of Paul Bennett Parris, age 91, who served in the United States Navy. In their 71 years of marriage, they built a life and family filled with love, laughter, and countless memories.
She was the proud mother of four children: Jimmy, Michael, Karen, and Danny. Jimmy passed away before his mother, and his memory remained an important part of the family she loved so dearly.
She found joy in the simple things in life. She loved to crochet and knit, tended her garden, fed the beautiful birds in her yard, and was a wonderful cook. In addition, she loved poetry and the theater. Her home and her kitchen were especially important during the holidays, when she made it a tradition to bring everyone together. Those gatherings became treasured family traditions and created memories that her family will carry with them for years to come.
She was also known for her quick wit, strong personality, and spirited sense of humor. She had a sharp mind and a sharp tongue, and never shied away from a little good-natured verbal sparring. Those who knew her best will remember the laughter, honesty, and spirited personality that made her unique to everyone in her orbit.
Her greatest legacy is the family she loved so deeply. She will be remembered not only for the things she made with her hands, the meals she prepared, and the holidays she brought everyone together for, but for the personality, humor, and love she brought into the lives of those around her.
Margaret Louise Parris was loved, she will be missed, and she will always be remembered. She is survived by her husband, Paul Bennet Parris; her sons Michael and Danny: her daughter, Karen; her grandchildren; and her extended family and loved ones.
