Marta Sue Owens

A graduate of the University of Georgia, Marta dedicated her professional life to education, spending her career as a teacher. She touched countless lives with her wisdom, compassion, and unwavering commitment to her students.

Marta was known for her feisty spirit, quick wit, strength, and beauty. Above all, she was a devoted Christian woman who loved God with all her heart and soul. Her greatest joy in life was her family and friends, whom she loved fiercely and unconditionally. She lived a life of faith, kindness, and resilience, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

She was preceded in death by her father, H.K. Owens; her mother, Laverne Owens; her brother, Kenny Owens; and her beloved grandson, Leroy Cole.

Marta is lovingly survived by her children, Mandi Smith, Judson Smith, and Mollie Cole (Trent); her cherished granddaughters, Mulaney Tant, Jacey Tant, Sydney Tant, Madilyn Smith, and Lura Smith; her niece, Alicia Owens Orr (Erik) of Dublin, GA; and her nephew, Greyson Owens (Lauren) of Dublin, GA, along with their children. Her family was the center of her world, and her love, kindness, and guidance will continue to live on through them.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Marta's life on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Owen Funeral Home, 12 Collins Drive, Cartersville, GA 30120. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a service at 11:00 a.m.

Though her presence will be deeply missed, Marta's faith, love, laughter, and strength will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her legacy is one of unwavering faith, selfless love, and a life devoted to serving both God and others.
