Martha Ann Ross Mercer

Martha Ann Ross Mercer, age 81, of Cartersville, GA, with the morning sunlight upon her face, she took her final journey home to be with Jesus and her husband, Mr. Linn Mercer on March 23, 2024. She was born in Cartersville, GA, on August 26, 1943, to the late Keith and Beatrice Cornwell Ross. Martha was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Bernard Linn Mercer, who passed away in December 2024, and her brother, Bobby Ross.

Martha is survived by her son, Keith Linn Mercer (Tiffany); grandchildren, Alexander Linn Mercer and Haylie Nicole Mercer; brothers, Martin Ross (Linda) and Daniel Ross (Sandra); sister-in-law, Wanda Ross; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A proud graduate of Cass High School, Martha retired after 37 years of dedicated service at Bellsouth. She was an active member of Brandon’s Chapel Baptist Church. Martha’s life was marked by her devotion to her family, her deep love for her husband, and her cherished role as a mother and grandmother. She and Linn shared a passion for camping, traveling, gardening, and hiking. Together, they hiked every trail on the Tennessee side of the Great Smoky Mountains, a testament to their shared love of nature.

Martha had a love for gardening and cooking, and one of her greatest joys was spending time in the kitchen with her granddaughter Haylie, teaching her the art of cooking. Martha’s gentle spirit, nurturing heart, and loving presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, from 4-8pm at Owen Funeral Home. The family will also gather on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at 10am for a Celebration of Martha Life, which will begin at 11am at Owen Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Shepard officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.
