

Mrs. Whitener was born on August 16, 1934 in Cartersville, GA, daughter of the late Robert and Ollie Ingram.
Mrs. Whitener loved fishing, talking, eating and spending quality time with her family. Her favorite quote was, “May the best man win!” She is definitely the “winner” now. She was a true and faithful servant of the Lord and a proud member of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Whitener is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. L.C. Whitener; twin sister, Mary Cochran; sisters, Altie Stepp, Frances Darnell, Betty Adcock and Mamie Spencer; brothers, James Ingram and Ernest Ingram.
Survivors include her two daughters, Joyce Preston of Cartersville, GA and Melinda (Kenneth) Pope of Acworth, GA; son, Jerry (Robbie) Whitener; grandchildren, David Chase, Janna Harrell, Mark Pope, April Edmonds and Brooklyn Barton; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Sara Jefferson and Bobbie Burns; brother, Bill Ingram; several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Sunday, the 27th of February, 2022 in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Rev. David Summey officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are David Chase, Bryce Harrell, Shannon Edmonds, Mark Pope, Briar Hilliard and Josh Barton.
