

Mary Jo Harper Barge, age 91, of Cartersville, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2025. She was born on December 5, 1934, in Fayette County, Georgia, to the late Robert Claude Harper and Jessie Grace Hardy Harper.
In addition to her parents, Mary Jo is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Phillip Donald Barge, Sr.; her grandson, Andrew Wren; and her sisters, Helen Perkins, Loraine Boyd, and Linda Harper.
She is survived by her children, Donnie Barge (Susan), Bobby Barge (Evie), and Belinda Darnell (Barry); grandchildren, Damon Barge, DeAnna Cordle (Jason), Bree Nelson (Patrick), Kristi Thomas (Brandt), David Darnell (Michelle), and Taff Wren; great-grandchildren, Chloe Hall, Hallie Luffman, Jax Barge, Nora Cordle, Colin Neslon, Hollis Nelson, Rowan Thomas, Rollins Thomas, Berkley Thomas, Taytum Darnell, Emmett Darnell, Ashley Cordle, Jaylen Cordle, and Zoe Cordle; as well as three great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Ann Brogdon (Darrell).
Mary Jo loved being a homemaker and devoted her life to her children and family. She was a loving mother and grandmother who found great joy in time spent with those she cherished most. She enjoyed camping, was a wonderful cook, and loved square dancing. Living near Dellinger Park, she walked there often. She was also a proud founding member of Heritage Baptist Church.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025, beginning at 1:00 PM at Heritage Baptist Church, 1070 Douthit Ferry Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.
Mary Jo will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
