Mary Elizabeth Smith

Mary was part of a very large extended family whom she loved dearly—too numerous to properly enumerate, as the author humbly admits, beyond their meager writing skills. She was a devoted wife and will be deeply missed by her husband. Mary’s passions included cooking and decorating, and her beloved dog, Skeeter, also mourns her passing.

She is survived by her husband, Clyde “Sparky” Smith; her sister, Marilyn Lee; her children, Lori Smith (Marion Boyles), Blake Smith (Kathleen Smith), and Beth Mercer (Brian Mercer); her grandchildren, Chloe Smith (Patrick Stapleton), William M. Smith, Lily Mercer, Ray Smith, Finn Smith, and Jack Mercer; and her great-grandchildren, Catherine and Beatrice Stapleton.

Mary was preceded in death by her mother, Irene Guerin; her uncle, Jack Geurin; her aunt, Cliffee Geurin; and her sister, Mavis Jackson.

A small, private family service was held on Monday, August 24, 2026.
