
Ms. Spearman was preceded in death by her husband, Robert T. Spearman, Sr., her parents, her brothers, Hugh and Davis, and her sister, Sara, as well as her stepson, Robert T. Spearman, Jr.
Ms. Spearman is an alumnus of Tallapoosa Elementary, Bartow and Cartersville Schools, the University of Georgia (Atlanta, GA Division) and Baylor University, Waco, Texas. Her studies included accounting, music, business leadership, stocks and bonds, religion and history. Ms. Spearman’s career was in accounting, working for many small business companies in Miami, Birmingham, Waco, and Atlanta.
She also was active in civic and governmental affairs serving on boards of government and honorary posts. She was a member of the Atlanta Quota Club for many years (a ladies executive international club). She became the chartering president of the Northside Atlanta Quota International and rose to Vice President of Distract 8 and then governor of District 8. She also served as recording secretary and chaired various committees.
Ms. Spearman was employed by churches in Texas and Georgia on a part-time basis in Ministry of Education, Music and Music Coordinator. She also worked as a volunteer for the Georgia Baptist Convention, teaching training union studies in Baptist Assemblies at Mercer Univ. and Toccoa. She also taught study courses in Georgia churches throughout the state. Ms. Spearman was an assistant regional training union director for the Atlanta Baptist Association as well as a training union director for the Middle Cherokee Assoc. She worked as a camp counselor and director and camp nurse. Other volunteer jobs she has done for different churches are: Sunday School teacher, training union leader, WMU Program Director, WMU President, choir soloist, pianist, and organist. Ms. Spearman also volunteered as a Pink Lady for Cartersville Medical Center from 1965-68.
For approximately 59 years, Ms. Spearman belonged to the Druid Hills Baptist Church in Atlanta. She served for twelve years in the educational and music ministries of other churches with her husband, Robert Spearman. She is a member of Heritage Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for the Omega class, was a Round Table member, and sang in the choir.
Ms. Spearman has been a faithful Christian throughout her life and strove to serve the Lord through her service to others.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Heritage Baptist Church on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at eleven o’clock in the morning with Rev. Michael Tutterow officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Mt. Pisgah Church Cemetery.
Honorary escorts for the service are the Omega Sunday School class, the Tuesday Lunch Group, and guests from Druid Hills Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service time at the church.
