Growing up in Maryville, Mike faced the challenge of polio at a young age but met it with the determination and resilience that would define his life. He went on to pursue a career in civil engineering, later finding his true professional calling in technology. Mike eventually served in IT management for the Georgia Department of Transportation, where his intelligence, creativity, and leadership left a lasting impact.
Mike’s passions reflected his boundless curiosity and love of life — from fast cars and motorcycles to amateur radio, technology, and golf. He was always eager to learn, build, and share his enthusiasm with those around him.
He is survived by his former wife, Theresa Barr; his children, Lori Patch (Greg) and Matthew Barr (Shelley Heider); and his cherished grandchildren, Clara Patch and William Patch.
Mike will be remembered for his quick wit, inventive mind, and generous spirit. His family and friends will miss him deeply but take comfort in the many ways he shaped their lives and inspired them to follow their own curiosities fearlessly.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held at Owen Funeral Home in Cartersville, GA on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 from 2-4 pm.
